2nd Annual You Be the Tour Guide Photo Contest

Spectacular photos help the Frisco Convention & Visitors Bureau market Frisco to business and leisure visitors by telling the compelling story of Frisco. If you are 16 or older, live or go to school in Frisco and amateur photography is your passion, hobby or an occasional past time, the Frisco CVB invites you to participate in our 2nd Annual You Be the Tour Guide Photo Contest in celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week in May. Photos help draw visitors and tourism, in turn, makes a positive impact on the local economy! That's why we're asking you to be the tour guide and submit your best images that illustrate how interesting, attractive and fun Frisco is!

No payment or purchase necessary to enter or to win.

Eligibility

To enter, you must be at least 16 years of age and a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident. The contest is open to amateurs only who are Frisco residents or attending school in Frisco (FISD or Frisco-based college). The CVB will announce the winners on the kick off of National Travel and Tourism Week, Saturday, May 7, 2010, 3:00 p.m. at Stonebriar Centre. City of Frisco, Frisco CVB employees and CVB Board members and their immediate family members are not eligible. Immediate family includes only spouses, parents and children. All photos must be in color and taken in Frisco within the last two years. Here are a few ideas to emphasize:

Photo Formats
Entries must be color prints or digital images. Black and white images are not eligible. Please read the specific guidelines for submitting prints and digital images.

Photographer/Copyright
Entries must be submitted by the original photographer. Do not submit a photo taken by someone other than yourself. You must be the sole owner of the copyright of any image submitted. Your submission of the photo and entry form is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the photo.

Number of Entries
Individuals may submit up to five entries.

Photo Subject Restrictions
Photos must be appropriate for posting on a public government website. The Frisco CVB cannot consider or accept obscene, provocative or otherwise questionable content. The Frisco CVB retains sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content. A signed model release form must accompany photos containing recognizable people.

Return of Photos
The Frisco CVB will not return photos, regardless of the medium. Please do not send your only copy of a photo.

Ownership/Use Rights
Photographers retain the copyright to their photographs. By entering the contest, photographers agree to have their submitted photograph displayed on the Visitfrisco.com website without any fee or other form of compensation, and agree that the Frisco CVB may display winning photos in the Frisco CVB e-newsletter or they may be selected for display or use in other CVB marketing and advertising initiatives. Entrant will be responsible for obtaining all consents necessary of any persons featured in any photograph for the Frisco CVB to use the photograph for any purpose contemplated by these rules. Failure to obtain consent will result in disqualification.

How to Enter
The contest entry and submission form can be found on the homepage of visitfrisco.com. The entry form will be available as of Friday, March 18, 2011. All entries and completed entry forms must be received by midnight April 17, 2011.

Judging
Entries will be judged on the basis of:

Composition - (does the photo tell a story)
Impact - (the wow or ahh factor of an image)
Creativity - (does it evoke emotion or thought beyond the predictable)
Technical Merit - (focus, brightness, sharpness, detail, use of light)

The Frisco CVB will assemble a panel of judges and all contest decisions are final. Entries that fail to comply with the Official Contest Rules will be disqualified. The Frisco CVB judge's panel will include professionals in graphic design, website design, website development, marketing and public relations and amateur photographers.

Winners
Judges will select and award one overall grand prize winner in addition to one second and third place winner. Winners will be announced Saturday, May 7 at Stonebriar Centre. The top three winners will be displayed on the Visitfrisco.com website during the months of May - August 2011, in the atrium of City Hall, featured in Neighbors Go/Frisco/Little Elm, and Frisco STYLE Magazine.

The winners and other photos will also be considered for publication in the 2012 Official Visitor's Guide.

Submitting Digital Images

Digital images must be 8 inches by 10 inches and  300 dpi (2400 X 3000 pixels). Panoramic photos are not eligible. All images should be submitted in JPG (at high quality) format. Images must be in natural color. Black and white, sepia tone, and duotone images are not eligible.

Image Modifications:
Minor digital enhancement is permitted, but images that have been significantly modified or appear unnatural will be disqualified.

The Frisco CVB is not responsible for computer system, hardware, software, or program malfunctions or other errors, failures, or delayed computer transactions or network connections that are human or technical in nature. Furthermore, the Frisco CVB is not responsible for: (i) lost, misdirected, misplaced, illegible, unintelligible, incomplete, or late entries or (ii) any act, failure to act, or delay regarding the transmitting or processing of entries. The Frisco CVB reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend all or any portion of this contest without notice if factors beyond the Frisco CVB's control, including technical difficulties, disrupt or corrupt the fair or secure administration or operation of the contest. The Frisco CVB is entitled to interpret these rules as needed and its decisions are final. The Frisco CVB reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that the CVB has reason to believe is not the original work of entrant, or does not otherwise meet the contest rules. If a winner is disqualified or determined to be ineligible, an alternate winner will be selected using the same judging process/criteria described above. Alternate winners are subject to all requirements set forth in these Official Rules.

By participating in the contest, you agree to release and hold harmless the City of Frisco, the Frisco CVB and its employees, officers, affiliates, agents, and advertising and promotional agencies from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind resulting from your participation in this contest, including infringement of intellectual property rights. The City of Frisco and the Frisco CVB and its employees, officers, affiliates, agents, and advertising and promotional agencies assume no responsibility or liability for any damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind arising in whole or in part from this contest.
