Lights On Ice Outdoor Ice Rink

Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Frisco, TEXAS (October 25, 2011) -Sooner Management LLC, proudly presents the Lights On Ice Outdoor Ice Rink at Frisco Square, which opens on November 25, 2011 and continues through January 8, 2012.  This real ice skating rink is 50' x 85'; located at the southwest corner of Main Street and Coleman Blvd. across from Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas. This daily event is in addition to the already popular, family-friendly weekend events scheduled during the 6th annual Christmas in the Square. In 2010 over 500,000 people attended Christmas in the Square, which is heralded as the third largest event in North Texas behind the State Fair of Texas and the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.

For the first time in over ten years in the DFW Metro area, outdoor ice skating is available Monday through Thursday between the hours of 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. and Friday through Sunday Noon to 10 p.m. except on Christmas Day and weather permitting. The ice skating cost is $10 per person, per day, including skate rentals with open public skating for as long as people want to stay within the open and close times. To reserve the ice rink for private use, the cost is $200 per hour. "Come join us to skate and celebrate the season on the rink as we welcome special guests for exhibitions and performances throughout the season," said Sarah Catherine Norris, CPM and President of Sooner Management, LLC.

"Frisco Square is excited to partner with Sooner Management LLC, who is presenting the Lights On Ice Outdoor Ice Rink. By adding outdoor ice skating as another entertainment option for friends and families who are attending Christmas in the Square, perfectly complements the popular weekend events in December. Along with the dazzling light show, in partnership with the City of Frisco, that is choreographed to holiday music, hot chocolate, cider, snow machines, an inner tubing snow slide, carriage rides, and so much more, we anticipate a traditional, memory making season for all who attend," said Cathy Sweeney, a Managing Partner at Frisco Square.

Christmas in the Square is presented by Frisco Square and NBC5 with unique, family-friendly weekend events on Fridays and Saturdays, December 9th and 10th and December 16th and 17th from 6 - 10 p.m., to include Carriage Rides, sponsored by Collin Bank and iBuildSocial, snow machines, a one-time Parachuting Santa with his elves, sponsored by Babe's Chicken Dinner House, two weekends of visits with Santa Claus, a Christmas Tree lot, weekend model trains on display, provided by the Spring Creek Model Railroad Club, a giant, 3 lane inner-tubing snow slide, a trackless train, and more. Most events are free to the public.

Frisco Square is a pedestrian-friendly, urban experience that blends shopping, dining, office space, apartment living, lofts, park space and Frisco's City Hall and library.  Additional information about Frisco Square and to sign up for our weekly, e-newsletter visit friscosquare.com ; if you have questions please contact the Frisco Square information center at 469-633-1721.
