Bites and Sips in Frisco’s Historic Rail District
Share:
The Frisco Rail District™ is undergoing some noticeable changes, and if you’ve driven by recently, you’ve likely seen the flurry of orange cones, narrow lanes, roadwork signs, and construction trucks. But don't let the temporary disruption fool you—this historic area is still very much alive and kicking.
The city has been diligently working on the much-needed Main Street expansion, carefully balancing progress with the charm that makes this area special. So, while the landscape might look different for now, rest assured that your favorite spots for a delicious bite or a refreshing sip are open, welcoming, and ready to serve you with the same warmth and hospitality as always.
Now’s the perfect time to support a local business and enjoy all the Frisco Rail District has to offer during this exciting phase of growth. Here are 7 spots to try for your next outing.
Three Empires Brewing
The first and only craft brewery in Frisco, Three Empires Brewing, is lively yet quaint taproom that offers a great blend of family-friendly fun and adult relaxation. There's Thursday trivia nights, live music on weekends, and a cart full of board games for the kiddos. Founded by husband-and-wife duo David and Mandy Wible, they have several tasty brews on tap and beer flights for the adventurous. I ordered the Betty White Ale with a “blanche” twist, featuring an infusion of raspberry syrup. The result? The summer beer of my dreams. Other syrup options are available, like strawberry lemonade to liven up any pour. This would be the best destination for watching Sunday Funday football or America's pastime with friends. As for snacks, you can order right next door from Mariana’s Taco Shop to enjoy inside the brewery.
Parking Deets: Three Empires is situated on the corner of Main Street and 5th Street. Park in their lot right behind the building or in the new lot at the corner of 4th and Oak.
Frisco Rail Yard
Located a next to the railroad tracks and historic silo, the Frisco Rail Yard is a charming outdoor vibe offering beer on tap, food trucks, outdoor games like sand volleyball, and live music on Friday and Saturday nights. With plenty of open space, this locally owned and operated spot is an ideal destination for families—parents can relax while the kids have room to play. Cool down with a refreshing pint or something sweet like the Dough Box truck’s cookie dough (thank me later). Be sure to check their events tab for the latest food truck lineup and band schedule.
Parking Deets: You’re in luck: they’ve got their own parking lot off of 1st and Main Street. You can’t miss it!
La Suprema Market
Just around the corner from the Rail Yard, discover a family-owned authentic Mexican grocery and meat market, complete with a cafe. The Supreme Cafe is located in the market and is your quick place to stop, work, and connect with free wifi, serving fresh pastries, fruit cups, breakfast burritos, breakfast tacos, and a custom curated coffee menu.
Parking Deets: La Suprema has a parking lot facing Main Street, in between 2nd and 3rd Street.
La Finca Coffee & Bakery
Next time you’re cruising through the Frisco Rail District, check out La Finca Coffee & Bakery. Born from a decade-long journey that began in Frisco and took founders Patricia and David to Mexico before bringing them back full circle, La Finca mirrors their passion for building community through superb coffee and food. As a small-batch coffee roaster, they roast their beans on demand, which means every cup is as fresh as it gets. P.S. Did you know “finca” means a country estate or ranch? The cafe’s namesake pays homage to its Mexican-inspired dishes like chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, tacos, and more. I love the cozy, inviting vibe here, plus the adorable patio with red umbrellas for plenty of shade in this Texas August.
Parking Deets: Public parking is available in their adjacent garage off Main Street and S. County Road.
Summer Moon Coffee
To cap off this list, I’m writing from the heart of the construction zone, on Summer Moon’s patio. Ever so lively, Summer Moon offers a truly unique Texas coffee experience that’s as rich in flavor as it is in atmosphere. What sets Summer Moon apart is their traditional wood-fired roasting method, where beans are roasted over an open flame fueled by Texas post oak. (The beans, sourced from Central and South America, Africa, and Indonesia, are carefully selected to ensure only the best 100% Arabica, 100% organic, and 90% fair trade beans make it into your cup.) This gives their coffee a smooth, smoky flavor that you won’t find anywhere else. My personal favorite is the Half Moon Latte, made with their proprietary Moon Milk—a secret blend of seven creamy ingredients, available in both dairy and dairy-free options. The best part? You can customize the sweetness level of any drink for a perfectly personalized experience.
Parking Deets: There's a lot behind the building (5th and Main) plus a new lot at 4th and Pecan.
Lottie Birds
One of the latest to enter the Frisco Rail District's menu of options to get a bite and drink is Lottie Birds. This sweet spot has a selection of ice creams, crepes, and coffees. Choose sweet or savory fresh crepes from pesto caprese to tiramisu and so many more creative, craveable choices. Find a table on the patio lawn and enjoy!
Parking Deets: Lottie Birds' parking lot entrance is off Main street 'on the curve' between 1st and 3rd Street.
Board & Bread | The Parlour
From classic combos to customized creations, there’s a Board & Bread charcuterie board for every palate sure to impress. Order ahead for catering boards or visit the storefront, The Parlour, for an Insta-friendly ambiance ideal for ladies' night out, networking, meeting up with friends, or date night with your sweetheart. This may be your new favorite spot to host birthdays and baby showers while enjoying refreshing cocktails, wine, bubbles, and beers coupled with charcuterie, paninis, salads, and more.
Parking Deets: They have a small lot right outside at 7th Street and Elm Street, plus street parking nearby.
