One of the special things about Frisco is that whether you are strolling Main Street or imbibing on a patio or hotel lounge, the sounds of a live music can make your experience special. From acoustic sets with an intimate audience to a sold out crowd at Ford Center or Toyota Stadium, Frisco celebrates a range of music and artists that create the vibe we all enjoy.

Alex Lease is one of those local musicians that strikes a chord in Frisco. Get to know what inspires this singer-songwriter, and stop and listen next time you see (or hear) him playing around town.

Q: How did you get involved with music, and at what age did you start singing?

I would say around 11 or 12, I started playing guitar and singing to enter the talent show at my elementary school.

Q: Who are your music inspirations?

I’ve been obsessed with Bob Dylan since I was a kid. So definitely him, and other songwriters like Todd Snider, Ryan Adams, and Hayes Carll, to name a few.

Q: Who would be your bucket list artist or band to play with?

Bob Dylan for sure, along with any of the names mentioned above.

Q: How would you describe your music?

I would say heartfelt. I just like being 100% myself during my original set and staying true to that. Hopefully, making you laugh, cry, and feel good about yourself along the way.

Q: Congrats on being Melody of Hope's Artist of the Year 2023. How long have you partnered with Melody of Hope?

Thank you! I’ve been playing around Frisco with them for a couple of years now. They have such a great team to work with and are so generous and genuine in what they do.

Q: How has Frisco’s music community supported your journey?

Getting the call to play out in Orlando for the PGA Show was definitely a huge one. But overall, I’ve met so many people over the years and have gained such cool connections through this city that I would have never imagined. I’m extremely grateful for that.

Q: What are some of your favorite places to play in Frisco?

I really love playing over at Tumbleweed TexStyles. They really stick their necks out for artists and are such great people over there that I’m very grateful to call friends. I also love playing at eight | 11 place as well. They’ve been such great supporters of live music.

Q: When you aren’t behind the guitar, what do you spend your time doing?

I’m a father to a beautiful baby girl named Isabelle. She is my world. I’m really just in love with being her father, enjoying every single moment that comes with that.
