Dallas-based Verdigris Ensemble includes interdisciplinary musicians and artists who create an alchemy of immersive storytelling using the power of human voice. The group is bringing back SHAMS, a groundbreaking collaboration with the Crow Museum of Asian Art, featuring music by Iranian composer Sahba Aminikia and live dance with Bruce Wood Dance Dallas. The work sets Rumi's poetry to music in its original Farsi, translated by Zara Houshmand, creating the largest collection of Rumi poetry set in its original language in the world.

At its heart, SHAMS tells the transformative story of Rumi's relationship with his spiritual mentor, Shams Tabrizi—a connection so profound that it completely shifted Rumi's philosophical outlook in just 40 days. Through this intimate exploration of understanding and acceptance, SHAMS builds cultural bridges while bringing to life one of history's most powerful stories of spiritual and personal transformation.
