FRISCO HITS A HIGH NOTE

Frisco City Council approves SUP for Music City Frisco

Frisco, TX – August 16, 2018 – The Frisco City Council, and Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission have given the approval for a Special Use Permit for the multi-purpose music and entertainment complex on the Dallas North Tollway, just off Warren Parkway in Frisco, Texas. Groundbreaking is scheduled for fall 2018, with the entertainment complex opening in the spring of 2020.

Music City Frisco, a $38 million live entertainment venue will sit on approximately seven acres, will include a 1,002-seat indoor concert hall, an outdoor performance stage with 300 seats and multiple restaurants. Dallas-based Hodges Architecture, renowned for designing theaters and entertainment venues nationally, has created preliminary plans for Music City Frisco.

"This is the culmination of about three years of work, but the concept has really been in the making for more than27 years," said lead architect Charles Hodges. "Music City Frisco will be one of the most unique and state-of-the-art venues of its size, not only in North Texas, but in the entire state. Music City Frisco will be able to host concerts and film festivals, live theater, opera and symphony performances, as well as wine festivals and runway fashion events. We've set this up for just about every opportunity.”

Other planned usages include city, school, and charity events such as community talent shows and school music programs, along with Esports tournaments, corporate meetings, faith-based programs, speaker series, and comedy shows.

Music City entertainment management is aligned with some of the biggest names in the music and entertainment industries in Nashville, New York and Hollywood. Both nationally known and emerging music artists will be showcased in Frisco’s first “acoustically pure” concert hall.

Varied genres of music will be routinely scheduled, and the advanced indoor stage will be available for video and live performance recordings. Broadcast capabilities will also be included in the concert hall audio-visual design. A 65-foot cinema screen, one of the largest used in movie theaters, along with several smaller screens will allow for film festivals and Esports tournaments. The two-level theater will also include sky boxes with drink service, plus a VIP area for guests to meet the performers.

Located along the Frisco North Platinum Corridor, Music City Frisco will be just across the North Dallas Tollway from the Dallas Cowboys mixed-use development, The Star. The enclosed building will total 52,044 square feet, and the outdoor courtyard will add another 17,000 square feet. Ample parking will be available within the parking garage and surface parking spaces.

An innovative 25-foot tall sound containment wall will be installed along the south perimeter of the entertainment complex, keeping sound from bleeding into the surrounding areas, as well as minimizing incoming traffic noise from the North Dallas Tollway.

“With the assistance of dining consultants, we have designed a unique restaurant at the heart of the complex which will include both formal and informal dining areas,” said Hodges. “The courtyard area, ‘The Yard,’ will also have six small guest kitchens for a revolving group of chefs.”

The central restaurant is planned to host a world-class steak and chop house featuring innovative cuisine and locally-sourced meats. A third smaller performance stage will also be housed in the indoor dining area for smaller performances. Multiple two-sided bars will serve both indoor and outdoor patrons, simultaneously. On the second level, a wine tasting room complete with personal wine lockers, will showcase wine events and exclusive corporate gatherings. A pavilion cover with attached large fans will increase guest comfort in The Yard.

“We are excited about adding Music City Frisco to our evolving music and arts community,” said Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney. “This will serve a long pent up need on our residents’ wish lists. Further, we also see this concert hall as a regional draw serving residents from neighboring communities as well as Frisco’s growing number of visitors from outside North Texas. Music City is the first of several planned music venues including our future performing arts facility.”
