From golf’s finest competitors to the elite women’s football athletes redefining the game, here’s why Frisco is the place to be this June.
KPMG Women’s PGA Championship – June 19-22, 2025
The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship returns, bringing with it world-class female golfers competing for one of the sport’s most prestigious titles.
What to Expect
- As the second-oldest women's Major Championship, this tournament is a cornerstone of professional women’s golf.
- This marks the first women's Major Championship at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco, making history as the first Texas-hosted edition in over 70 years.
- Defending champion Amy Yang and golf icons like Nelly Korda, Lexi Thompson, Lydia Ko, and Minjee Lee are expected to battle for victory.
Why It Matters
Women’s golf is experiencing a surge in participation, especially among younger and more diverse players. With nearly 7.9 million women hitting the greens in 2024 (a 13% increase from the previous year), and junior female golfers rising by 6%, the game continues to grow and evolve.
A Special Day for Junior Golfers
On Saturday, June 21, Junior Golf Day invites young players to experience the championship like never before. Each ticketed adult can bring up to four kids (15 and younger) for free, with special behind-the-scenes access, trophy photo ops, and reserved seating on the 9th green.

WNFC IX CUP Championship Weekend – June 20-22, 2025
The Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC) takes center stage at Ford Center at The Star for its annual IX Cup Championship Weekend, showcasing elite women’s tackle football talent from across the nation.

A Groundbreaking Moment
With the league’s first-ever live linear broadcast on ESPN2, and a record-breaking attendance goal, the WNFC is proving that women’s football belongs on the biggest stages.
WNFC Founder and Chairwoman Odessa Jenkins talks about setting the standard. "The WNFC has always been about proving that women’s football belongs on the biggest stages. With the support of Augustine Agency, our partners, and the incredible local community, we are setting a new standard for what’s possible in women’s tackle football," says Jenkins.

Title IX Anniversary – June 23, 2025
This year marks 53 years since the passage of Title IX, the landmark legislation that transformed opportunities for women in sports.
The progress made in women's athletics—seen in events like the KPMG Women's PGA Championship and WNFC IX Cup Weekend—is a testament to the determination of female athletes and the continued fight for equity.
