Finding “The One” in the Frisco Rail District: Meet Shana of The Blushing Bride Boutique
Tucked along the historic streets of the Frisco Rail District, The Blushing Bride Boutique has become a beloved stop for brides searching for “the one”. Much of that magic comes from its owner, Shana Lepsis. After moving to Frisco in 2008, Shana transformed a century-old Main Street building with a colorful past into a warm, welcoming space where brides feel right at home. With a background in interior design, an eye for fashion, and deep appreciation for Frisco’s small-town charm, Shana has created more than a boutique. She’s built a place where generations of local families return to celebrate life’s most meaningful moments.
Meet Shana and get to know one of the faces of Frisco.
How long have you been in Frisco, and what brought you here?
We are going on 15 years in business this November 1st! My family and I moved to Texas in 2008 from Castle Rock, Colorado, as my husband and I were ready to trade the snow and cold for warmer weather. We met in college, and while two of our three children were born in Colorado, I married a Texan. My husband, Matt, actually grew up in Frisco in the 80s and graduated from what he likes to call the "original" Frisco High School.
What is special about your Frisco Rail District location?
This is actually the third location on historical Main Street for The Blushing Bride Boutique. I started very small in the blue-green Victorian home next to Randy’s Steakhouse and moved once more before settling into our current space. This building is over 100 years old and has a fascinating history. At one point, it was a mortuary where they stored coffins in the attic. There is actually still a large wagon-wheel pulley system visible that was used to move them between floors.
Before we opened, the building housed a construction company and featured dark plantation shutters that kept the interior hidden. Now, the space is bright and open with unique lighting in every room and private spaces for brides to relax with their guests. It feels like a grand, warm home, which is exactly the tone I wanted to set. I want our brides to feel like they are coming home to find their dream wedding gown.
Tell me about your background in bridal fashion?
My professional background is actually in interior design and home remodeling. While I’ve always admired fashion and wanted to start my own business, I never specifically considered bridal until I saw that first Victorian space on Main Street. The octagon-shaped middle room was the perfect viewing area with mirrors on every wall, allowing brides to see every angle from their pedestal. Starting small allowed me to learn the business at my own pace while staying available for my children, who were quite young at the time. It was an essential period for figuring out which designers to carry and how to make my boutique concept stand out.
What are some things you like to do in Frisco?
When our kids were younger, we spent hours at the National Videogame Museum and the Sci-Tech Discovery Center. As a family of foodies, we have several local favorites: Jinbeh was our go-to Friday night spot, La Hacienda Ranch is a staple for fajitas and margaritas, and Pizzeria Testa on Frisco Square is wonderful because the lawn gives the kids room to run around. I truly love the historical charm and walkability of the downtown Rail District. The old school Main Street vibe with its boutiques, coffee spots, and patios makes it a destination that locals should be very proud of.
Do you have any memorable stories about brides choosing their dresses at Blushing Bride?
I love the family culture we’ve built. We have many "full circle" moments where local Frisco brides who bought their Homecoming or Prom dresses from us years ago, back when we carried formal wear, return to us to find their wedding gown once they are engaged. Having those brides come back with their own families and friends to say "yes" to a wedding dress is incredibly special, and we are so grateful to be part of their journey.
What is your favorite thing about your store or your products?
It is hard to choose just one thing, but I love the surprise of helping a bride find "the one" in a dress she never would have initially considered. Every day in this business is happy. I am also incredibly proud of our team. I have full confidence that each person contributes to the welcoming culture we provide for every Blushing Bride.
Today, The Blushing Bride Boutique stands as a reflection of everything Shana loves about Frisco: its history, its heart, and its people. Whether she’s helping a bride rediscover herself in an unexpected dress or welcoming back former prom shoppers now preparing for their wedding day, Shana continues to shape the Frisco Rail District’s story one joyful celebration at a time. Her boutique is more than a shop. It’s a testament to the special kind of community that makes Frisco feel like home for locals and visitors alike.
