City of Frisco Plants Trees to Foster Positive Environmental Legacy for the Community
Frisco and regional partners plant 20 new trees, advancing sustainability ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026™
FRISCO, TEXAS: The City of Frisco hosted a community tree‑planting event at Toyota Soccer Center on Saturday, May 30, bringing together volunteers and regional partners to support sustainability efforts ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026™.
Twenty new trees were planted throughout the Toyota Soccer Center and FC Dallas training grounds, enhancing green space in an area visited year‑round by youth athletes, families, and tournament guests. The initiative contributes long‑term environmental benefits including added shade, improved air quality, and expanded urban canopy.
The project was made possible through collaboration between City of Frisco departments Visit Frisco, Parks and Recreation (Play Frisco), and Environmental Services, and partners including FC Dallas, Fannin Tree Farm, the North Texas FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee, and Better Impact.
“The goal of enhancing sustainability around major sporting events is an important one. Planting twenty new trees around the FC Dallas complex is a positive effort but also serves as a tangible reminder of our city’s participation as a Host City and Base Camp during FIFA World Cup 2026,” said Josh Dill, Assistant Executive Director, Visit Frisco. “Just days away from the arrival of the Sweden national team delegation, Frisco is honored and prepared to welcome global fans to Sports City USA.”
This tree‑planting effort aligns with the North Texas Organizing Committee’s broader sustainability initiatives and supports FIFA’s reforestation and community tree‑planting projects across all Host Cities. The new trees will serve as a lasting legacy for Frisco long after the global event concludes.
“Our volunteers planted trees in an area where families, friends, and fans gather to celebrate the game we love,” said Jacqueline Sedighi, Sustainability Manager, Frisco Environmental Services. “These trees will enhance the space with cleaner air, cooler shade, and improved stormwater benefits – positive impacts that will last well beyond the final whistle.”
As North Texas prepares to welcome the world for FIFA World Cup 2026™, the region has a unique opportunity to showcase not only its passion for soccer, but also its commitment to building a greener, healthier, and more resilient future.
