New Docuseries Chronicles Frisco’s Transformation from Small Town Texas to Sports City USA

FRISCO, Texas (Sept. 25, 2025) – Visit Frisco has announced the premiere of “Where Greatness Grows: The Story of Sports City USA,” a new seven-part docuseries debuting on VisitFrisco.com on Sept. 25, 2025. 

Told through firsthand accounts, the series traces Frisco’s transformation from humble pastureland to becoming the home of internationally-recognized sports brands and global competitions. Each short, interview-style episode runs under four minutes, offering a concise and compelling look at the partnerships, leadership, and community spirit that fueled Frisco’s rise. 

The series features voices ranging from Frisco’s first city manager, George Purefoy, to former Mayor Mike Simpson, alongside representatives from the Dallas Cowboys, FC Dallas, Kurt Thomas Gymnastics, the PGA of America and more. From youth athletes sharpening their game in Frisco to sports celebrities like the team from Dude Perfect, the docuseries highlights the city’s culture of innovation, diversity, and growth through sports.

“It was essential that this story be told by the very leaders who shaped Frisco’s growth and transformation into Sports City USA over the last 40 years,” said Visit Frisco Executive Director Marla Roe. “We are honored to share their firsthand accounts of how an early vision for Frisco to have amenities such as a minor league baseball team paved the way for recruiting world-class organizations like the Dallas Cowboys, FC Dallas and the PGA of America.”

Along with the premiere of the docuseries, Visit Frisco is also launching its new Sports City USA brand. The refreshed brand reflects Frisco’s position as a world-class sports destination and celebrates the teams, athletes and partnerships that make the city’s sports culture unlike any other.
