Frisco Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Wesley Lucas Named one of 30 Future Leaders of Destination Marketing

Frisco, Texas (May 11, 2017) – Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) Chairman Gary C. Sherwin, CDME and President and CEO of Visit Newport Beach, Inc; Destination and Travel Foundation Chairman Joe Marinelli, and President of Visit Savannah, and President and CEO Don Welsh today announced the 2017 “30 Under 30” class, which will convene for the first time at the Association’s Annual Convention in Montreal, Canada July 11-14. Wesley Lucas, Communications Manager for the Frisco Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) was selected as an honoree.

“One of the main priorities for our industry today is developing our workforce, and specifically our leadership, for tomorrow,” said Marinelli.  “The ‘30 Under 30’ initiative gives us the ability to do both.  It has been exciting to watch the enthusiasm of these young professionals as they form a network they can rely on.”

Wesley began her career in destination marketing right out of high school as an intern for the Abilene CVB in her hometown Abilene, TX. During college, she continued to seek experience in the industry, interning at Visit Lubbock and the Overton Hotel and Conference Center in Lubbock, TX. After graduating from Texas Tech University with a degree in Public Relations, she moved to north Texas, joining the Grapevine CVB as Communications Coordinator and then joining the Frisco CVB in 2016 as Communications Manager. Wesley is extremely passionate about tourism, continuing her education and advocating for the travel industry. In her current role, Wesley is responsible for managing the Visit Frisco social media channels, as well as assisting in working with all forms of media to help garner media coverage for Frisco.

“We are so proud of Wesley for this recognition of her incredible talents and are fortunate to have her on our team,” said Marla Roe, executive director, Frisco CVB. “She truly lives and breathes Frisco every day!”

DMAI’s 2017 ‘30 Under 30’ recipients will be recognized July 14 at the Association’s Annual Convention.
